Changes and new features - TACLog release 1,21
BUGS REMOVED
------------
Updating directly from a pre-release to version 1,20 (only)
caused TACLog to crash immediately when executing TACLOG.EXE,
if a TACLOG.CWM file was present and if a TACLOG.INI file was
not present. Critical.
Background colour was not correct when prompting for a
duplicate QSO, if black/white colour mode was selected.
Harmless.
Escaping from "Remove C_Ws versus distance"/"- date" and "Edit
.C_W file" did not return directly to menu. Harmless.
Changes and new features - TACLog release 1,20
PRINTER TYPE
------------
It is now possible to select between different printer types:
7-bit ASCII, 8-bit ASCII and Epson (compatibles). Select the
kind of printer you have or which ever one can be emulated by
your printer. The 7-bit ASCII will work on all printers.
QSO LINES IN LOG
----------------
The number of QSO lines in the log can now be controlled from
the Custom set-up menu. The log can have from 10 to 50 lines
per page. Set the number of lines as high as possible, however,
it is recommended to keep the number a multiple of 10, since it
makes reading easier.
QSL LABELS
----------
The QSL label numbering has been rearranged so that label type
1 is 88,9 mm * 23,8 mm, type 2 is 88,9 mm * 35,7 mm and type 3
is 105 mm * 35,7 mm.
.BND, .DEF AND .SSI FILES
-------------------------
The .BND, .DEF and .SSI files have all been changed to
parameter-and-setting style. Nothing has changed inside TACLog.
RECEIVED RST AND QSO NUMBER
---------------------------
It is now possible to enter the received RST and QSO number in
one string, e.g. 59A001, if QSO numbers are used.
/DXCC AND DXCC/
---------------
It is now possible to enter /DXCC or DXCC/ at the input line
just like A, M, P and 0-9.
MISSING WWLS MAP
----------------
It is now possible to select at which WWL the missing WWLs map
is centred. The map can either be centred at the WWL set-up in
the band set-up or calculated from your own WWL. You can also
scroll then map when visible.
QSOS/DXCC AND QSOS/WWL STATISTICS
---------------------------------
Yet two more statistics showing how many valid QSOs worked in
each DXCC or WWL respectively.
The statistics menu no longer uses numbers when selecting which
one to show, but, letters.
BUGS REMOVED
------------
Statistics showing QSOs/QSO-points versus time did not have 6
hour time span, but 8 hours. Text misguiding. Non-critical.
Help text for own optional exchange showed help for own WWL.
Non-critical.
If QSO-points were limited by Max-QSO-Points, statistics could
show Points above the limit. Non-critical.
Not possible to search manually in .C_W file if no QSOs were
entered. Non-critical.
Delete .C_W versus date caused deletion of file. Critical.
Delete .C_W versus distance caused deletion of file. Critical.
Creating a .DUP file even if no dupes were detected. Non-
critical.
TACLog crashed if trying to search in .C_W file, with F5 in
contest mode, if the look-up feature was not enabled. Non-
critical.
If using multipliers (WWLs, Optional Exchanges or DXCCs) and
one of them not yet worked, then total score was zero (0). No
problem if at least one worked in each multiplier. Not likely
to be critical.
Using TACLog to restore a back-up file did not include the last
QSO. Critical. Back-up file OK.
Polar plot did not have correct distances if QSO multiplier was
higher than one (1). Non-critical.
Own QSO number was written in Region 1 EDI file even if QSO
numbers were not used. Non-critical.
Non-aurora mixed mode QSOs had modes swapped, caused wrong
print on QSL labels. Critical.
Rawcall identification not OK for, e.g. I4YNO/IN3. Critical.

Changes and new features - TACLog release 1,11
BUGS REMOVED
------------
Adding new call and WWL elements to a non-band-dependent .C_W
file did not work properly. Non-critical.
PTT and key line off when TACLog starts. Some PC have these
lines "high" after boot.
===============================================================
Changes and new features - TACLog release 1,10
INFORMATION INPUT
-----------------
The cursor can now be moved in all information input lines
where visible. So, you can now edit anywhere in the input.
Due to this the full stop "." in the UTC, when editing or
inserting UTC has been removed.
TOTAL SCORE CALCULATION
-----------------------
The number of total score calculation method have been
decreased to one. However, the new method will cover all the
old once and more!
The total score is now calculated as:
TS={ (Sum of QSO-points)
+(Number of WWLs * WWL Bonus)
+(Number of Optional Exchanges * Optional Exchange bonus)
+(Number of DXCCs * DXCC Bonus) }
*[Number of WWLs * WWL Multiplier]
*[Number of Optional Exchanges * Optional Exch Multiplier]
*[Number of DXCCs * DXCC Multiplier]
Where argument in square brackets "[]" are only multiplied if
the respective multiplier is one (1) or greater.
If the total score suddenly is zero (0) or extremely high, then
check the DXCC/Optional Exchange/WWL bonus and multipliers. Set
the parameters to the correct values using the "Recalc data
file" (MAIN MENU 4,6,3). Make sure that if DXCC/Optional
Exchange/WWL are not used then bonus and multiplier is set to
zero (0). You may use the TACLog Wizard to do it for you, if
you have the last issue. But, you can also do it by hand.
However, make sure that your TACLOG.WIZ file is also updated.
The new calculation method is also a "correction" since some
contest scores could not be calculated within the old once.
FIND ARGUMENT FROM INPUT LINE
-----------------------------
In the contest screen TACLog now takes the last argument, if
any, on the input line and pastes it as argument when invoking
the Find function, F5.
If you want to search in the look-up file just make sure to
type a dollar sign "$" anywhere in the argument, e.g. $OZ1,
OZ1$ or OZ$1. The asterisk "*" still have to be inserted
properly according to the wanted search.
UNIDENTIFIED DXCC
-----------------
When generating a log or report TACLog will warn you if one or
more QSOs contain unidentified DXCCs.
STATISTICS
----------
Statistics now have the comment line and date on the print out.
Two new statistics features are implemented. One showing QSO-
points versus distance, and one showing the WWLs around you (15
* 21) that have not been worked - yet.
SHORT WWL ODX
-------------
If short WWLs are used, without converting them to normal WWLs,
TACLog now calculate the ODX to the closest WWL in same
square/grid.
RST ENTRY
---------
Sent and received reports can now be followed by "Y/Z"
respectively, in addition to "S/R". Why this? - if you enter,
e.g. 55AS or 42AR TACLog can not determine whether the entry is
a WWL or a report, but you will be prompted. To go directly
into a report you can enter, e.g. 55AY or 42AZ. By the way a
received aurora report does not have to have the "R" at the
end, since it can be distinguished from a serial number by the
"A".
If you cannot remember this feature - do not worry, TACLog will
take care of it for you.
TAB PTT
-------
The tab PTT key is now fully interrupt controlled and can
activate the PTT anywhere in the contest screen except when
transmitting a CW message or being in a DOS shell. Since the
PTT can be accessed anywhere, the "TX" in the lower left corner
has been removed.
BUGS REMOVED
------------
Minor correction of the log lay-out. Harmless.
Calculation of ODX in case of short WWLs incorrect. Non-
critical.
Identification of certain DXCCs (DXCC/Rawcall) when DXCC was
not a full prefix. Critical if DXCCs used in score.
If Optional Exchanges were used and "OE" did not have to be
inserted, TACLog was likely to crash. Bug introduced in pre-
release 0,33. Critical.
Attempting to load data file version 0, pre-release 0,17 or
earlier, caused crash. Non-critical.
Editing short WWLs with conversion to normal enabled caused
conversion even if WWL was normal, or crash in no WWL.
Critical.
===============================================================
Changes and new features - TACLog release 1,00
REGISTRATION
------------
Even if you have registered before, please be so kind to do it
again, when you receive your first real version of TACLog.
Registration is still free of charge. Please let your
representative know that you are a TACLog user.
Thank you.
DXCC IDENTIFICATION
-------------------
TACLog is now capable of identifying countries. TACLog uses the
file TACLOG.DXC in the main directory. If the file is not
present TACLog cannot run. This file is a converted file which
is output from a DOS program called DXC.EXE. This program takes
a *.CTY file as input. The *.CTY file is also used in CT by
K1EA. If you want to update TACLOG.DXC manually then edit the
*.CTY file and convert it to TACLog format.
Syntax for DXC.EXE, e.g. using the IARU.CTY file:
DXC.EXE IARU.CTY
If you want to check your updating you can do this by running
the TACLog utility program called SHOWDXCC.EXE. It loads the
TACLOG.DXC file and lets you type in callsigns and returns the
DXCC and rawcall.
When running TACLog in contest mode and TACLog cannot identify
a country, a flashing "?" is shown in the callsign column. If
you continue, the DXCC will be recorded as "?". After the
contest you may investigate which country the callsign actually
belongs to. If the callsign is in a new country you will see an
early warning, a flashing "!" The same goes for a new Optional
Exchange and a new WWL.
CALLS AND WWLS
--------------
TACLog now supports two WWLs per callsign in the .C_W file.
When a call is found, TACLog displays both WWLs if they exists,
otherwise only the first one is displayed, like TACLog used to
do. The two WWLs are called WWL1 and WWL2. You might remember
that you can accept WWL1 by pressing Alt+X. Now, you can accept
WWL2 by pressing Alt+V. This key combination is also used for
swapping WWLs entered properly, see also NEW ALT+KEYS below.
Adding calls and WWLs inside TACLog now is done 100%
automatically, when you tell TACLog to. TACLog replaces the
second WWL (WWL2) with the primary WWL (WWL1) and inserts the
new WWL as primary WWL. The date is also replaced, with the
date of the first QSO in the data file. If the new WWL is
similar to WWL1, TACLog only updates the date, i.e. the .C_W
file cannot contain two identical WWLs for the same callsign.
TACLog also has increased the number of calls and WWLs to
2147483647 (2^31 - 1). Each element takes up 38 bytes on your
hard disk. If you have all possible elements, it results in a
maximum .C_W file of 76 GB, this should do for a while. TACLog
automatically converts the old .C_W file to the new format the
first time the actual file is used.
All these new call- and WWL-look-up features and the number of
elements possible, have forced the use of the computer hard
disk as resource. It is vital that you use a hard disk if you
have enabled the look-up feature. It is no longer recommended
to run TACLog from a floppy disk. TACLog has been tested on a
4,77 MHz PC with a 80 ms hard disk which performs satisfactory
(full dupe-check, DXCC identification, and look-up for rawcall
takes less than 300 ms searching about 2800 elements). However,
a faster hard disk will do better. Another thing that can
improve the speed is setting up a disk cache such as Microsoft
SMARTDRV.EXE and to defragment your hard disk regularly, e.g.
with Microsoft DEFRAG.EXE. You can also disable the look-up
rawcall function if you have a slow system or have many
elements in your .C_W file. The delay on my PC, 486DX2-66 VLB
with 2 MB cache and 12 ms IDE hard disk, is not worth
mentioning.
CALL AND WWL HANDLING
---------------------
Yet another redesigned POST CONTEST menu to handle calls and
WWLs. The menu features "Add calls and WWLs"; "Delete calls and
WWLs" which works on dates either before, at or after the date
entered. This is possible since the calls and WWLs in the .C_W
file now contain a QSO reference date; "Delete C_W vs distance"
removes calls and WWLs that are too far away from you. It is
also possible to copy one .C_W file to other bands or to a
general .C_W file using the "Copy C_W file" feature.
If you want to merge, sort or manipulate files that do not
originate from TACLog into a .C_W file, you can use the TACLog
utility program C_W.EXE. This program operates as a DOS command
line program, and is a tool for DOS-jockeys only! It converts a
TACLog .C_W file to a plain ASCII text file and vice versa. To
get help on the file formats, type C_W.EXE at the DOS prompt
without any command. C_W.EXE cannot process the old .C_W file
format.
MORE QSOs
---------
More QSOs are now possible in TACLog. The maximum number of
QSOs is 2000 on all bands at the same time.
DISPLAYING BAD QSOS
-------------------
In the find menu it is possible to display unidentified DXCCs,
ERROR-QSOs, invalid and incomplete QSOs when the search
argument is zero "0".
CALLSIGN AND WWL SEARCH
-----------------------
It is now possible to search for a partial match in the
relevant look-up file in the find menu, Shift+F5, if the
argument searched begins with a dollar sign "$". TACLog
searches the file for match in both callsign and WWL1.
TACLOG.INI
----------
TACLog no longer uses the TACLOG.CUS and TACLOG.CWM files. They
have been replaced by the TACLOG.INI file. Conversion is made
the first time TACLog version 1,00 is executed. Both TACLOG.CUS
and TACLOG.CWM are then deleted.
FILE MANIPULATION
-----------------
This is a new menu under POST CONTEST. Here you can find
several possibilities to change data and restoring a floppy
back-up. The menu contains the following items: "Restore back-
up", "Merge .DAT files", "Recalc .DAT file" and "Delete files."
LOG GENERATION
--------------
Also a new menu under POST CONTEST. Here you can find the old
"Generate .LOG", "Print .LOG", and the new ones: "Print note"
which is used to print the TLyymmdd.NOT file, "Generate dupe
sheet" and "Print dupe sheet", which is used to extract
duplicate contacts and print them separately. New is also
"Generate report", with the extension .RPT. This feature can be
used for brag purposes, e.g. Packet Radio, it is not a new EDI
file.
ARRL SUGGESTED STANDARD FILE FORMAT
-----------------------------------
TACLog now supports the "ARRL suggested standard file format
for submission of contest log data." This is another electronic
data interchange formats like the NORDACTI and REG1TEST EDI
formats. "ARRL" processes the data into TLyymmdd.EDI, rename
the file to a proper name according to ARRL.
DOTS IN POLAR PLOT
------------------
In the statistics menu "QSOs versus QTF 360 " TACLog offers two
possibilities, namely dots and lines. TACLog always starts with
dots, but, by pressing L lines occur. Pressing D display dots
again. You can also go directly to the polar plot in the
contest screen by pressing Alt+P.
RENAMED CW COMMANDS
-------------------
The CW commands have been renamed, hopefully to make them
easier to remember. All MY commands now begins with "M" and has
one letter following it. TACLog converts the old commands to
new ones automatically. The new ones are:
$MC : Own call.
$MR : RST received from calling station, confirmation use.
$MN : Own QSO number, if used.
$MO : Own optional exchange code, if used.
$MW : Own WWL, if used.
$C : Call of calling station.
$R : RST to calling station.
$N : QSO number from calling station, if used.
$O : Optional exchange of calling station.
$W : WWL from calling station, if used.
$### : Set CW speed, in LPM.
NEW ALT+KEYS
------------
Four new ALT+keys have been added. They have the following
relations:
Alt+C : Swap callsign with last entered callsign.
Alt+D : Show DXCCs, same as SHIFT+F5.
Alt+P : Show polar plot, same as SHIFT+F2,4.
Alt+V : Swap WWL with last entered WWL.
BUGS REMOVED
------------
Editing short but converted to closest WWL not possible.
Critical.
===============================================================
Changes and new features - pre-release TACLog 0,33
QSOs versus QTF
---------------
TACLog now has one more statistical feature, namely a polar
plot showing the QSOs versus QTF. This plot can only be printed
using the DOS program GRAPHICS which must be installed before
attempting to print, by hitting the Print Screen key. Consult
your DOS manual for further instructions or type HELP GRAPHICS
at the DOS prompt.
This new feature requires a *.BGI file, if not found the
feature is not possible. The *.BGI file must be in the TACLog
main directory.
NEW WWL OR OPTIONAL EXCHANGE
----------------------------
Operating in the contest environment TACLog now tells you if
the entered WWL or Optional Exchange is new - before the QSO is
complete. This feature is implemented to show you if you ought
to spend more time with the current QSO, in case of extra
points can be claimed.
CW MESSAGES
-----------
Playing CW messages can now be aborted in spaces between
characters. Messages can also begin with spaces.
BUGS REMOVED
------------
Trying to show statistical information without having worked
any QSOs caused TACLog to crash. Less critical.
===============================================================
Changes and new features - pre-release TACLog 0,32
BUGS REMOVED
------------
Adding calls and WWLS did not remove identical calls and WWLs.
Message repeat key caused crash if none of the messages were
activated before activating the repeat key. Critical.
Cosmetic error when printing statistics on some printers. Non-
critical.
===============================================================
Changes and new features - pre-release TACLog 0,31
REMOVE CALLS AND WWLS
---------------------
TACLog now has a utility to remove calls and WWLs which are at
distance too far away from you. It is possible to set the WWL
from where distance calculation is made. The distance can set
independently.
MERGING AND SORTING C_Ws
------------------------
The merging and sorting of calls and WWLs has been simplified,
and is now called "Add calls and WWLs", so it is no longer
needed to be a DOS expert. TACLog automatically selects the
right files when you have selected the .DAT file you want to
merge.
MESSAGE REPEAT KEY
------------------
It is now possible to repeat the last activated message just by
pressing a "arrow down" key _.
REGION 1 EDI FORMAT
-------------------
TACLog now supports the Region 1 contest log exchange format
"REG1TEST." Like the Nordic Activity Contest exchange format it
can be used for submitting logs to contest managers, se also
"Electronic data interchange" in the user's guide.
STATISTICS
----------
More statistical menus has been added.
===============================================================
Changes and new features - pre-release TACLog 0,30
SEPARATION LINE IN LOG
----------------------
The line used to separate QSO points etc. and total sum has
been replaced by a new type which can be printed on 7-bit
printers.
BUGS REMOVED
------------
Minor cosmetic adjustments. Harmless.
Recalculating erroneous QSO caused crash. Critical.
===============================================================
Changes and new features - pre-release TACLog 0,29
STATISTICAL INFORMATION
-----------------------
Statistical informations can now be shown even in contest mode.
This is done at the Shift+F2 key or Alt+I.
BACK-UP
-------
The back-up key has now been moved to F2. TACLog now checks if
floppy drive is ready and writable before attempting to write
the back-up file to disk.
QSL LABEL
---------
To help QSL bureaus etc. the labels will now be sorted before
printing.
Test label now follows the selected label type.
BUGS REMOVED
------------
If own WWL and QSO-partner WWL were identical and ending with L
caused program crash. Critical.
Cosmetic errors. Harmless.
Incorrect information in contest help screen. Non-critical.
EDI files were not deleted in "Delete files". Non-critical.
===============================================================
Changes and new features - pre-release TACLog 0,28
OPTIONAL EXCHANGE/INPUT
-----------------------
TACLog now will accept German DOKs, UK Counties, ITU and CQ
Zones as QSO exchange, in addition to AGCW. You select the
exchange, if any, in the test parameters.
TACLog will also accept any other - and unknown format -
exchange up to maximum six characters. The exchange may also be
name, age, state, province or the like. However, TACLog cannot
reject faulty exchanges.
The name of the optional exchange is shown at the input
columns. When typing the optional exchange it must be followed
by a full stop to distinguish it from other input.
You can also select whether the optional exchange must be
filled or not.
TACLog WIZARD
-------------
To help setting-up the right parameters in the custom, band and
test parameter menus TACLog now has a build in Wizard, that
will help you out. If you absolutely do not have any idea how
to set these parameters, press F1 instead of ENTER at the
ENTER-accept prompt in these menus.
In custom and band set-ups the Wizard sets the parameters to
the ones most frequently used. This way, TACLog can be used
quickly also by contesters with little or no previous TACLog
experience. Later, when you get more familiar with TACLog you
can play with more advanced configurations.
In test parameter set-up, the Wizard shows you a list of test
names from which you can select the one you want. After this
you only have to insert callsign and WWL.
Even if the Wizard helps you in setting up the parameters, you
can always fine tune afterwards.
QSL SERVICES
------------
TACLog now offers printing of QSL labels. You can find the QSL
services under POST CONTEST menu 7.
Before going to print labels you must select QSL label type in
the custom set-up. You can select between two different types.
Type 1 can be printed on any matrix printer, even on a 7-bit
printer. Type 2 requires an Epson compatible 8-bit matrix
printer. The difference is the size of the callsign to whom the
card is to be send, and the horizontal line style. Size of both
types are: 88,9 mm * 35,7 mm. You can find the label at various
vendors, e.g. Zweckform 3611; Conrad 97 15 88-66; 97 16 18-66;
97 16 42-66; 97 16 77-66; 97 13 75-66; 97 14 05-66; 97 16 93-
66; 97 18 12-66; 97 16 26-66; 97 15 61-66; 97 15 96-66; 97 16
50-66. Fastonall ??? and Straalfors ???.
When aligning the labels in your printer, you can make use of
the test label, which is a type 1 label.
EDIT AND INSERT QSO
-------------------
TACLog no longer locks at missing inputs when editing or
inserting a QSO.
OWN CALL, OPTIONAL EXCHANGE AND WWL IN CONTEST SCREEN
-----------------------------------------------------
TACLog now shows own callsign in the upper left corner of the
contest screen. Also shown is own Optional exchange and WWL, if
used.
BAND SETTINGS
-------------
TACLog now has split the old test parameters into two sections,
namely test parameters and band settings. The latter are no
longer included in the actual test. But, they are now the same
for all tests on the actual band. They can be changed in the
band settings menu, Main menu 5,2.
AUTOMATED C_W GENERATION
------------------------
If you use the look-up WWL feature, TACLog will now write the
entered WWL to the TLyymmdd.C_W file, if it is different from
the suggested WWL.
TEST PARAMETERS
---------------
As mentioned above the test parameters have been changed. In
addition to the remaining, new ones have been added:
Own call : Own callsign.
Own optional exchange : Own optional exchange code. For use in
CW keying.
WWL type : Selects between three different WWL
types. More detailed WWLs are always
accepted. This means that TACLog now
accepts Short (JO65), Normal (JO65FR)
and Extended (JO65FR22) WWLs as input.
Convert short WWLs : Converts a short WWL to the closest
normal WWL in the same square/grid.
Optional input : Used to determine optional exchange,
if used.
Insert optional input : Sets if optional input must be
inserted.
Minimum QSO-points : Used to set the lowest points level at
which QSOs are valid.
QSO-points method : Sets type of calculation of QSO-
points.
Optional exchange bonus: Bonus points for each new optional
exchange.
Optional exch. multipl.: Multiplier for each new optional
exchange.
PRINTER LINES
-------------
Due to new test parameters in TACLog the printer requirements
may now be up to 64 lines per page.
BACK-UP FILE
------------
The extension of the back-up file has been changed to .BAK.
This means that the file name for the back-up is ?_yymmdd.BAK.
NEW CW COMMANDS
---------------
Due to the new test parameters, new CW commands have been
developed. Available now are:
$MYC : Own call.
$MYRST: RST from calling station, confirmation use.
$MYNO : Own QSO number, if used.
$MYO : Own optional exchange code, if used.
$MYWWL: Own WWL, if used.
$CALL : Call of calling station.
$RST : RST received from calling station.
$NO : QSO number from calling station, if used.
$OPT : Optional exchange of calling station.
$WWL : WWL from calling station, if used.
$### : Set CW speed, in LPM.
RECALCULATING DATA
------------------
Recalculating data no longer removes unused exchange.
DATA AND SUMMARY SHEET FILES
----------------------------
The .DAT and .SSI file have been subjected to some minor
changes, such as no leading zeros in QSO numbers. Also, the new
test parameters have been added. This means that older versions
of TACLog cannot read the files that have been processed with
version 0,28 and later.
EDIT QSO
--------
TACLog no longer asks if the corrections made when editing are
correct. Changes take effect immediately when pressing ENTER.
If you regret the changes you will have to edit again.
76 GHz
------
A new band has been added to TACLog - 76 GHz. Go ahead all you
plumbers!
QUICK BAND SWITCH AND SHORTCUT KEYS
-----------------------------------
In multiband TACLog now has shortcut keys to swap band. Ctrl+A-
N. Several other Alt+ keys have been added, available are:
Alt+B: Band menu, same as Shift+F10.
Alt+E: Edit select, same as F6.
Alt+F: Find menu, same as F5.
Alt+N: Make note, same as Shift+F1.
Alt+O: Show worked Optional exchanges, same as Shift+F5.
Alt+Q: Show worked QSOs, same as Shift+F5.
Alt+T: Key PTT and key line for tuning TX.
Alt+W: Show worked WWLs, same as Shift+F5.
Alt+X: Accept suggested WWL.
ERROR INPUT
-----------
TACLog will now accept the special word "ERROR", direct as
input. This is used for occupying a QSO number etc.
SCROLLING LAST QSOS
-------------------
When scrolling the last QSOs, it is now possible to access all
QSOs.
F6, F7 and F8 KEY LAY-OUT
-------------------------
The arrangement of the F6, F7 and F8 and Shift+ keys has been
changed to the following:
F6 : Enter QSO number to edit
Shift+F6: Scroll select of QSO to edit
F7 : Insert QSO, non-QSO-number-mode only
Shift+F7: Delete QSO, non-QSO-number-mode only
F8 : Print all QSOs
Shift+F8: Print all status counters etc.
The above changes have been done to simplify operation, after
it is now possible to access and select between all QSOs.
===============================================================
Changes and new features - pre-release TACLog 0,27
BUGS REMOVED
------------
Manual back-up was not possible if autoback-up number was set
to 0. Non-critical.
Total points error in statistics with many WWLs. Run time
error, critical.
Error when checking 7-character rawcallsigns. Program in loop,
critical.
File browser PageUp scroll error. Non-critical.
Editing last characters of ODX WWL in contest screen. Harmless.

ACCEPT SUGGESTED LOOK-UP WWL
----------------------------
The key to accept the suggested look-up WWL has been changed
from Alt+Z to Alt+X. This is to make it easier to access
different keyboard layouts, which vary from country to country.
EXPANDED MEMORY
---------------
TACLog now makes use of expanded memory, EMS, if your computer
has this available. If not, TACLog just uses conventional
memory.
DELETE UNNECESSARY FILES
------------------------
In the POST CONTEST MENU is now possible to select an automated
delete files option. This deletes unnecessary files,
TLyymmdd.C_W, .EDI, .LOG, since they can always be created
again from the actual .DAT and .SSI files. This is to minimise
the required disk space.
MAKE NOTE
---------
TACLog now has a small "MAKE NOTE" feature build in. This is
invoked by pressing SHIFT+F1 in the contest screen. TACLog
stores notes in a file named TLyymmdd.NOT. Together with the
note are also stored the date, time, call and QSO number.
AVOID PRINTING SUMMARY SHEET
----------------------------
If you happen to use another type of summary sheet, e.g. for
multiband contests, it is now possible to skip printing the
summary sheet.
BUGS REMOVED
------------
Colour bug removed. More safe "Alternative Slash Key" handling.
Sorting of extreme C_W elements. Help texts. TAB PTT is now
keyed off when exiting the contest.

Changes and new features - pre-release TACLog 0,25
NEW CUSTOM PARAMETERS
---------------------
A new set of custom parameters has been added to the old ones.
Before starting TACLOG.EXE run UPD025.EXE. This will update
your custom parameters. Then, run TACLOG.EXE and go to the
custom set-up and set the new parameters to suit your needs.
All other parameters are maintained.
MULTIBAND
---------
TACLog now supports multiband operation (MAIN MENU 3). You can
use various combinations of test parameters. You can also
continue contest on some bands and from scratch on others
simultaneously.
PTT KEY ON KEYBOARD
-------------------
TACLog now has a push to talk, PTT, key on the PC keyboard. The
PTT is toggled on the TAB key. When transmitting a "TX" is seen
at the lower left corner of the contest screen. You must enable
the feature in the custom parameters and select the right
serial port (COMy). The PTT is using the Request To Send (RTS)
on the serial port, set "high" when transmitting. See also CW
MESSAGES below.
CW MESSAGES
-----------
TACLog now offers a CW keying facility. To use the CW keying
you must set-up at which serial port, COMy, you have your
interface circuitry. The messages can be set-up in the set-up
menu (Main menu 5,4) or in the contest screen (Alt+F1-F10). The
interface uses Data Terminal Ready (DTR) for keying the
message, and uses Request To Send (RTS) to key the PTT. A 250
ms guard delay is inserted between PTT on and message keying
begins and stops. Playing a message is done by activating
CTRL+F1-F10 in the contest screen.
The interface circuitry consists of a dual optocoupler. Between
the RS232-pin and the opto-diode a 4,7 kOhm resistor is
inserted. The collector of the optocoupler is the first
transistor in a darlington coupling and the combined collectors
are the PTT line.
If you would like to receive a schematic, send a SASE to your
representative or OZ1FTU.
You can also buy an assembled interface, directly from OZ1FTU
or me, price 200 DKK, cable, connector, enclosure and postage
included, expect two weeks delivery time. Remember to add 20
DKK if you send other currency than Danish Kroner. Please state
connector type, 9/25 pin and male/female, of the connector
soldered to the cable. A copy of the latest release of TACLog
is included. The TACBox can also be used with CT, NA and N6TR
contest programs, and MSK meteor scatter keyer program.
ACCEPT AURORA RST
-----------------
TACLog now performs even more strict control of input. It is no
longer possible to enter aurora reports above 902 MHz, incl. It
is also possible to disable aurora reports below 902 MHz. This
is relevant if the chance of aurora at your QTH is virtually
zero, e.g. EA stations. Use the feature to minimise error
entries.
FILE BROWSER
------------
TACLog now has a real file browser built in. When the file
browser is started it scans on the default band, set in the
custom parameters. Another band can be selected for browsing,
if preferred. Use the arrow keys (UP/DOWN) to find the right
contest data and select pressing the ENTER key.
TIME MODE
---------
TACLog no longer has two time modes. TACLog now operates in
both modes simultaneously. This means that you can enter non-
real-time QSOs as well as real-time QSOs without changing
anything. In non-real-time entry you just type the time before
a signal report. In real-time the time is triggered by one of
the signal reports.
PREFIX WWL
----------
It is now possible to enter the last four letters of the WWL,
e.g. 65FR will be interpreted as JO65FR if the Prefix WWL in
the test parameters is set to JO.
If you enter a WWL ending with AS or AR, you will be asked if
it is a WWL or a RST. However, only if the band is below 902
MHz and accept aurora RST enabled. This is to avoid mismatch
between Aurora RST and WWLs.
BOSS KEY
--------
This feature has been removed. Tell me if you want it back.
AUTOMATIC BACK-UP
-----------------
TACLog now has an automatic back-up feature. It is enabled by
setting the number of QSOs between automatic back-up and the
floppy drive in the custom settings. If you enable the back-up,
make sure to have a floppy disk in your drive, door closed and
disk writable. Both number and drive must be set. On slow PCs
it will take some time to make a back-up, so consider if it is
necessary. You can also set-up a Smart Drive to cut time -
consult your DOS manual about SMARTDRV.EXE/SYS.
ESC-LINE
--------
Single page help messages no longer have a line saying that you
have to press ESC to return - do it anyway.
VERSION 0 OF .DAT FILES
-----------------------
It is no longer possible to read version 0 (zero) of the TACLog
data files TLyymmdd.DAT. This version was used in pre-releases
up to 0,16. Only pre-releases 0,17 to 0,24 have a version 0 and
1 .DAT-reader built in.
MORE QSOs and C_Ws
------------------
More QSOs callsigns and WWLs are now possible in TACLog. The
maximum number of QSOs is 1500 and C_Ws is 4000.
SHORT WWLS
----------
TACLog offers a new feature to four character square-WWLs, e.g.
JO65. If you enter a short WWL TACLog will find the shortest
distance to this WWL and insert it. Used in some 6 m contests
for claiming points, therefore short WWLs are only possible on
6 m.
TIME ZONE
---------
TACLog offers a Time Zone parameter in the custom set-up. It is
used to set-up your PC system date and time. The Time Zone is
the difference between Greenwich/UTC/0 meridian and your local
time. The Time Zone parameter is positive east of Greenwich and
negative west of Greenwich.
